It doesn't seem right. The experimental group is too controlled. Every breath present and accounted for. The roll call continues. They raise their voices in turn, confirming that they do in fact exist at the moment. Whether they did before is up to you. I hesitate to use we. There doesn't seem to be a we, at least not without modification.
