We're raising kids now, who raise themselves.-The Offspring.
Everyone should hate their family. It's a life-perpetuating experience. There is nothing quite like it...except maybe the hatred of anything else.
For years, they leave children to their own devices. Only to come back and act like they made a difference just when they aren't needed any longer. As if they were there when you had to rouse yourself in the morning to make the bus, at the age of 6. Or when you slipped through the door at 4 in the morning to trudge through the snow to grab breakfast at a friend's house because there wasn't anything edible at your own.
They take the credit for your life. As if they were there every waking moment. Well, my dears, where were they when you stumbled into the house broken and bleeding?
Another amorphous entity that provides a shelter. As tenuous as it is. If it weren't for the photos on the wall, there wouldn't be a face to attach to the purchases.
